This is a poem I wrote for my brother, Kenny, on his wedding day, February 14, 2001. He married Nivla Cleland, and has 2 sons, Trebor Lane Moore and Tyler Blake Moore.
MY BROTHER, MY FRIEND
An act of God
Is what they say.
And now you’re being married,
on Valentine’s Day.
She’s smart, she’s pretty,
a bit wacky, too.
But I guess that’s just
from being around you!
Tyler & Trebor,
Now there’s a pair!
It’s easy to see
how much you care.
Mom and Dad survived
our growing up years,
with love and patience,
and a firm hand on our rears.
And I guess you thought
I was a bit of a con,
when I made you ride a bicycle
with a blindfold on.
But seriously now,
all kidding aside.
I love you, Kenny,
and your new Bride!
I pray for you
and your family you see,
thank you for being the daddy
“you didn’t have to be”
I pray for you,
for guidance above,
That you, Nivla, and the boys,
will always have love.
Best Wishes to you,
Through this poem I send.
Thank you for being, my brother,
my friend.
