Probably the most important poem I have ever written was the one that Tammy & Cory had posted in their adoption profile that they presented to the Agency when they applied to adopt a child.
I remember, I was at the Hotter N Hell 100 bike ride, about 40 miles into the ride, when Tammy called my cell phone and said "Mom, while you are out there riding in the heat, I have a project for you". I asked her what it was and she said, "Write a poem for our profile book for the agency". Wow, what a task. I was honored, scared, nervous that I would not be able to do this one, cause I KNEW how important that it was to impress upon what ever young mother was looking at their portfolio how much we would love and care for this precious gift she might be giving us.
So to Tammy and Cory, Thank you for allowing me the honor of doing this and here is the poem, that I called, "MiMi's Poem". Love ya!
MiMi’s Poem
Let me introduce myself, in the form of this, my poem,
I will be your baby’s MiMi, in every shape and every form.
I promise to always love it, in everything I do,
Every moment, smile, or boo boo, those are special too.
My daughter will be his new mommy, my son-in-love, his dad,
They have their hearts so full of love, for a child they can never have.
So if you allow them the treasure, of opening your heart,
And placing your little one in their home, it will be a selfless start.
They have all they ever wished for, work hard, and love so strong,
But their hearts desire, the little one, will never come along.
Unless you choose to give them, a chance to share their love,
To shower your unborn baby, with their blessings from above.
They promised to love and cherish each other, till death they do part,
Now they just want a child to call their own, to fill the hole in empty hearts.
They have lived, laughed and traveled too, but the void is still so strong.
I pray that God will touch your heart and end the pain that’s gone too long.
Their friends and extended family, grandparents, siblings, Mom’s and Dad’s,
Promise to love this unborn child with all the passion that we have.
So please consider our family of love, the gift of your unborn treasure
To make our family circle complete, our cups too full to measure.
We will pray for you as your life goes on that God will bless you too,
For happiness, peace, comfort and love in everything you do.
It was so very nice meeting you in the form of this, my poem.
I close this now with prayers for you, and your baby not yet born.
God Bless you!
Mimi
