This is one of the poem's I wrote about a dear family friend that passed away several years ago. He was especially dear to my mom and dad, and was a fantastic friend to them both. It's called, "Just Tommie"
"JUST TOMMIE"
It didn't matter when you met him
He had that twinkle in his eye
Years ago or yesterday
Even with his last goodbye.
That was "just Tommie".
He cherished his so many friends
He loved his family and his wife
And praised his heavenly Father
He would give his all, even his life.
That was "just Tommie".
It was such a privilege to know
Such a wonderful man and father
I'll always treasure the moments
That we shared with one another.
That was "just Tommie".
And now he's gone to his eternal home
To be with his precious Father
We know he's watching over us
To him, that is no bother.
That was "just Tommie".
We'll miss him here on earth so much
That silver twinkle in his eye
His tender smile, his loving touch
But he would not want us to cry.
That was "just Tommie".
So now I say goodbye to him
But just for a little while
One day I'll meet with him again
And we'll be rejoicing in high style.
Me, my God and "just Tommie".
